*Please forward this message to your networks.*
Greetings,
All across the nation, we know that there are communities doing
wonderful, innovative things for their young people- and the 100 Best
Communities for Young People competition is about helping those
communities tell their story. You may have already decided that you
don't want to pursue this honor this year-- please keep reading in case
I can convince you to throw your hat in the ring.
Special deadline extensions are available for those communities who are
interested and help is available from our Support Team to locate data,
track down information or give technical assistance.
*I also have some exciting news.* Today, I'm delighted to report that we
have just secured the ability to offer a pool of* **$300,000 in grant
funds* to help 100 Best applicants* **deliver more promises to more
young people in 2007.*
*Any community that submits a 100 Best application by **midnight Sunday
**December **3rd * will be eligible to apply for up to $100,000 to
resource their collaborative plan for delivering more promises to more
kids in their community. An RFP will be issued in January for all
eligible communities.
To get started, simply visit http://www.americaspromise.org/100best_2007
and register, then you'll receive a computer generated password and you
can log into the website to begin your application. We understand that
time might be tight, so we'd encourage you to fill out as much as you
can and submit as is. If you don't have time to convene collaborators in
your community or find all the answers simply put "No answer available".
in the text box. you'll need to submit this by midnight on Sunday
December 3rd in order to be invited to participate in the RFP process in
January.
We need to help all communities be great places to grow up and being
recognized as one of the best is a great place to start. In the next few
days you should hear from an America's Promise staff member to talk more
about getting your community in the running. If you have questions in
the meantime, please be in touch with the 100 Best Support Team at
1-800-365-0153 or 100best at americaspromise.org
<mailto:100best at americaspromise.org> .
Best of luck and please let me know if there is anything I can do to
help facilitate this process for your community.
